Petrale has a fine-textured flesh and a delicately nutty slightly sweet taste. This fish is available year-round and was named the King of Soles by the Los Angeles Times. Our primary supply of petrale is caught locally using a bottom trawl. You can’t go wrong with this delicious easy to cook fish.  

This item is cut and sold by each fillet side. Generally, fillet sizes range from around 4-8 oz. Customers will be charged by the weight which will be reflected in the finalized invoice.

The King of Soles  

Petrale Sole is a flatfish that is widely popular on the West Coast, particularly in California. The Los Angeles Times named this fish the King of Soles for its delicious slightly sweet flavor and fine textured flesh. There are many ways to prepare petrale, but our favorite preparation is lightly breaded and pan-fried with a squeeze of lemon and a touch of butter.  You really cannot go wrong with this delicious, easy to cook fish. 


Our petrale is caught locally, just off the west coast where our team of fisherman use bottom trawls to find the fish. It received an yellow raking from the respected Monterey Seafood Watch program because the stock levels are currently healthy but it is possible overfishing is occurring.
