True Cod (Gadus macrocephalus), Pacific Cod, Alaska Cod, Cod, White Fish
A lean and tasty whitefish
Cod is the common name for the demersal fish genus Gadus. True cod, also known as Pacific cod, has mild flavor and a dense, flaky, white flesh. Along with its many other uses, true cod is the perfect ingredient for fish and chips, tacos, or chowder.
Sustainability
Fisher people harvest our true cod using bottom trawls from the waters surrounding Alaska. The Monterey Seafood Watch Program rated true cod caught in Alaska as a “Best Choice.” In the Bering Sea, the cod stock is healthy, there are no serious bycatch concerns, and management is rated highly effective overall.
Our Mission.
As a 100% transparent and sustainable seafood supplier, Royal Hawaiian was one of the first seafood processors in the country to collaborate with the Monterey Bay Seafood Watch program to ensure that we only sell products from fisheries that are responsibly harvested or aquacultured.
