King salmon have a vibrant orange flesh color due to the high oil content naturally present in the breed also creating the striking marbled fat lines that can be seen in the within the flesh. Ora King Salmon is smoked over New Zealand’s manuka wood giving it a distinctive smoky flavor that finishes with a touch of a sweetness.
Bred to be King
Ora King’s breeding program has seen over 20 years of genetics expertise and sustainable husbandry practices creating eight generations of King salmon. This has produced over 100 distinct King salmon families, with the most appealing taste, texture, color, and size. King salmon eggs are nurtured in the crystal-clear wasters from Te Waikoropupu Springs at their hatchery in Takaka, NZ. With an average of 14,00 liters of freshwater bubbling to the surface of the spring every second, the waters of this region have been verified as some of the cleanest in the world.
Sustainability
Ora King salmon was rated ‘Best Choice’ by the Monterey Seafood Watch Program for their committed practices of sustainability. The salmon is farm raised in New Zealand in freshwater and marine net pens using indoor recirculating tanks with water waste treatments.
