Pacific Sardine (Sardinops sagax)
Nutricious and umami packed fish
These sardines are locally caught from Monterey Bay and individually frozen right after harvest. These little forage fish are rich in numerous nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, and proteins. Add sardines to pasta, salads, soups, or simple eat them as is for a delectable umami packed meal.
Sustainability
Caught locally off the California coast, these sardines were Marine Stewardship Council certified. Our team of fisherman use purse seines, a method of fishing which uses a vertical ‘curtain’ net to surround a school of fish and is then drawn together to enclose the fish, to catch the sardines. To prevent the problem of overfishing of the sardine population, these fish were caught during the designated season and then flash frozen to maintain freshness.
