The heart of palm is the center part or heart of certain types of wild palm trees. Heart of palm is a white vegetable is prized for its culinary versatility. Heart of palm can be added to a variety of sweet and savory dishes as it has a mild flavor comparable to artichoke heart. Its crunchy and firm texture makes for a great vegan meat replacement. To prepare this vegetable, simply peel off the outer tough layer and slice the inner core. You can eat this product raw or boil it for a softer texture.
